AUGUSTINIAN CHAPTER SYDNEY
The Australian Provincial Chapter, a gathering of Augustinian men from Australia, Vietnam and Korea concluded in Sydney on Friday 5th July. A review of the communities and works of the Augustinians in the past two years was conducted and a course set for the coming period. There are no changes of personnel in the South Yarra community.
IGNITE THE LIGHT RETREAT
Fr Saldie Resolado OSA will lead a retreat for the young adults of the parish on Saturday 15th June from 11am to 5pm at St Joseph’s Centre. All welcome.
MELBOURNE VICAR GENERAL APPOINTED AS CAIRNS BISHOP
The Holy Father has appointed the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Melbourne as the new Bishop of Cairns, Queensland. Our prayers accompany him as he prepares for this new role as pastor. Read more.

RCIA 2024 CONCLUDES
We congratulate a
nd pray for Patrick Vo, Charlyne Domingo, Paola Padilla and Melati Russ, who were, respectively, baptised, confirmed and received into the Church on Pentecost Sunday at St Joseph’s Church. We also congratulate and thank their sponsors, families, and Parish RCIA Team.
PENTECOST SUNDAY MAY 19TH – INTERNATIONAL MASS
We celebrated the international character of our parish community with prayers in various languages. You might consider wearing something red in keeping with the liturgical colour of the feast.
RCIA GROUP – CONGRATULATIONS
Sincere congratulations to the RCIA candidates who are to be baptised confirmed and received into the church this Sunday – Patrick, Melati, Charlyne and Paola. Thanks to all who have supported them through the program in 2024.
FEAST OF SAINT RITA OF CASCIA – AUGUSTINIAN – MAY 22ND
The feast of one of our Augustinian saints, Rita of Cascia is marked in many places by the blessing and distribution of roses which are then offered to the sick. Rita was a woman of the fifteenth century central Italy who lived her Christian vocation in three states of life, as a wife and mother, a widow and as a contemplative religious.
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL REPORT ON MAY MEETING
Among matters discussed at Parish Council during the week were -the situation of the ministry at the Alfred Hospital where there is no longer a Catholic Chaplain, the consolidation of a social committee, the 2025 renewal of the Lease Agreement with SJOS, new safeguarding codes, and some maintenance issues in the parish.
CHILDREN’S FIRST RECONCILIATION
Preparation classes for children making their First Reconciliation will begin in May, Please contact Stefphy at the parish office.
VOCATIONS SUNDAY
