The Parish of South Yarra is an important provider of community outreach services. We operate ten Emergency Housing Apartments, 1 Short term Crisis Shelters, a food bank which supplies 1100 families per year and a 24 hour bread supply.
Our former convent building is now ‘The Haven’, it has been been turned into 14 independent living units for those living with mental illness.
The parish Augustinian clergy and pastoral team reach out to the isolated, elderly and ill in our community as well as in the Alfred Hospital and local nursing homes.
YOUR BEQUEST IS THE WAY TO ENSURE OUR WORK CONTINUES
By leaving a bequest to the Parish of South Yarra you are helping to ensure that our community outreach and pastoral work can continue.
Our staff and volunteers liaise with more than 70 workers from 20 different housing agencies across Melbourne to ensure that the most vulnerable in our community are given a respite from homelessness.
Our Pastoral team regularly visit some 40 housebound people who would otherwise be isolated and our Augustinian priests, assigned 24 hours a day to The Alfred, Victoria’s premier trauma hospital, make more than 200 visits annually to minister to the sick, the dying and their relatives.
