A JOURNEY IN FAITH

The Catholic Church welcomes all people who genuinely search for a deeper connection with God in their lives.

In this search, and following the ancient tradition of the Church, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Christians (RCIA) offers a process for preparing and welcoming new members into the Catholic community. It is a journey of faith, made in the company of other enquirers, sponsors, team members, presenters and priests.

The process involves discussion and sharing of the Gospels and the teachings of the Church, and leads to an understanding of what it means to be a follower of Christ and a Catholic Christian.

It is a journey which usually starts late August, early September, held on a weekly basis, except for School holidays. It has its high point at the Easter ceremonies, and draws to a close about a month later.

The journey is open to anyone not already baptized; for those of other Christian denominations who wish to become members of the Catholic Church; and for baptized Catholics who have yet to complete the other Sacraments of initiation: Confirmation and Eucharist, or those who simply wish to refresh or renew their faith.

The journey is made completely without obligation or cost. You may withdraw at any time, or delay your admission to the Catholic Church until you are ready to take that step.
