PARISH COUNCIL

The first meeting of the new Council met Wednesday 9th April. A new executive – Narelle Ivers and Benedict See (co-chairs), Averyl Menezes (secretary) were elected. New members included Terence Thambi-Rajah, Maida Pineda, Aaron Rhodes, Paola Padilla, and Jeh Tham. 

PARISH AGM 2025

The Parish AGM was held last Sunday 23^rd March at 11.45am at St Joseph’s. The meeting was attended by about 40 parishioners. The Annual Report was presented and nominations for council membership received.  The meeting was addressed by Teresa  Fels who spoke about the ‘Haven’, the welfare facility utilizing the former parish convent. PRIORY GARDEN HONEY

On the day of the Parish AGM the SJOS Garden Club will present for sale the first harvest of honey from our own garden hive. The proceeds will serve to promote the work of the Garden Club and is related to the parish commitment to Pope Francis “Laudato Si Action Platform“.

NEW PARISH MANAGER

The parish welcomes to our office team Joel Sanchez, our newly-appointed parish business manager as we farewell our departing manager Juliet Oei and whish her and her family well as they return to Indonesia at the end of this month.

FAREWELL FR MATTEO CHO OSA

This week we farewell Fr Matteo as he travels to Korea to assume his appointment as the Superior of the Augustinians in Korea. He will be missed by the communities of Mt Waverley and here in South Yarra and we thank him for his contribution to the parish.

LAUNCH OF PARISH PASTORAL PLAN UPDATE

The updated Parish Pastoral Plan has been finalized and printed in a new leaflet format for distribution at our church doors this weekend. Please take your copy. Thanks to the members of the Parish Council sub-committee who have worked on this plan. Download here.
