DOES OUR MISSION RENEWAL EXTEND BEYOND CATHOLIC CIRCLES?

At our meeting of coordinators last week the notion that our dialogue with other parish communities might be extended to congregations of other Christian traditions in our neighbourhood was raised. This is significant because our annual round of ecumenical services is in question given post-Covid challenges and changes of personnel and situations at other churches. In short, they too are struggling with the question what is mission in our times.

VISIT TO PARISH OF CATHERINE GARNER

On Thursday 19th May Cath Garner recently appointed to “Take the Way of the Gospel” as Program Director/Parish Transformation is to visit the parish and meet with our parish coordinators to discuss our progress with the Parish Mission Renewal process.

CO-ORDINATOR’S MEETING MAY 3RD

On the afternoon of Tuesday last representatives of our parish and St Joseph’s Parish Malvern met to share our perceptions of our current position in the light of “Take the Way of the Gospel” parish mission renewal. Further opportunities for exchange are planned.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 20TH

At the April Parish Council meeting newly elected members were introduced to the Parish Mission Renewal process  and briefed on our involvement to date. It was agreed that our two coordinators meet as soon as possible with reps from neighbouring parishes.

PARISH AGM 2OTH MARCH

At the Parish Annual General Meeting convened March 20th the matter of the Parish Mission Renewal was addressed. Mr Damian Coleridge from Malvern Parish was in attendance and briefly presented his perspective on the process from the standpoint our a neighbouring parish in transition.  Tony Grant (retiring chair of parish council) and Stefphy Coosnapa (pastoral assistant) were confirmed in their roles as coordinators for Parish Mission Renewal on an ongoing basis.

UPDATE MARCH 2022

There has been a hiatus of a couple of months over the summer holiday period with regard to the ongoing discussions about the Parish Mission Renewal process. Clergy in our area have met once online in February but there has been no further initiative from the Archdiocese as yet in 2022. You can see the ‘Take the Way of the Gospel” website here.
