Children are welcome at all our Masses in our Churches.
Colouring activities and toys for children are provided in the foyer at the rear of St Joseph’s Church where parents can sit with their children and participate in the Mass.
During school terms, we have Children’s Liturgy on the first and third Sunday of each month for children of kindergarten and primary school age.
Led by a parent, the children have a session of approximately 20 minutes on the Gospel story with activities suitable for their age. They come back to Mass for the procession of the gifts. These sessions are in the adjacent Parish Centre. A parent is welcome to accompany their child.
Our children’s safety is of great importance. All church volunteers have to present their Working With Children Check clearance. For more information, please refer to our Parish Child Safety Policy page: https://parishofsouthyarra.org.au/child-safety-policy/
We also have two children Masses per term. Children are invited to read, sing in the choir, and carry the cross, the book of the gospel, the Bread and Wine or candles.
Please contact the parish centre for more details.
